It is important to provide your tax preparer with all of the necessary documentation and information needed to prepare your tax return accurately. This may include:
- Personal identification information for you and your spouse (if filing jointly)
- Social Security numbers or Individual Taxpayer Identification Numbers for you, your spouse, and any dependents
- W-2 forms for each job you held during the tax year
- 1099 forms for any other income you received, such as unemployment compensation, interest, dividends, or self-employment income
- Receipts or records of any deductible expenses, such as charitable donations, medical expenses, and business expenses
- A copy of your previous year’s tax return, if available
- Any documents related to tax credits or deductions you are claiming, such as childcare expenses or student loan interest
It is also a good idea to check the tax organizer that we put in Liscio for you. This contains special questions and reminders of what information you provided in the prior year.
